The geography splits about how you'd expect. The northern stretch near the capital is thick with bakers: Fairfax, Alexandria, Ashburn, Sterling, and the Loudoun County towns all show up with sourdough micro bakeries, cottage cake shops, and pre-order loaves you message someone about midweek. Down on the water, Virginia Beach has its own deep bench of coastal sourdough and small-batch sweets, with porch pickups landing on set weekdays. Sourdough does run through a lot of these bios, slow-fermented and baked to order, but Virginia's spread is wider than one loaf.
