By using The Front Porch, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain English on purpose — but they're still a real agreement.
You must be 18 or older to create an account. If the listing is a kid-run stand, the account holder must be the parent or legal guardian of the child running it. If you're a kid reading this — you can absolutely run a stand, but a parent or guardian needs to be the one to register it.
The Front Porch is a directory for neighborhood porch shops — kid stands, cottage bakeries, makers, gardens, and other small home-based sellers. We help buyers find sellers and help sellers be findable. We are not a payment processor, escrow service, marketplace operator, employer, or supervisor of the people running listings.
Money changes hands directly between the buyer and the seller (cash at the porch, Venmo via the link you provide, or arrangements you make off-site). We don't handle funds.
To help neighbors discover what's nearby, we sometimes publish basic information about porch shops we found in public places — Google Maps, public Instagram, microbakery directories, and similar. These appear as "unclaimed" listings until the operator claims them. We don't endorse, vet, or verify these operators; we're just surfacing public information.
If you're the operator of an unclaimed listing, you can claim it (it becomes a regular listing you control under these terms) or request removal at any time. Both paths are free and don't require an account.
When you list a cottage bakery you affirm that you follow your state's cottage food law. When you list as a maker or garden you affirm your goods are handmade or grown by you. When you list under "Other" you affirm that what you're selling is legal in your state and that you're following any rules that apply.
We don't verify permits, licenses, or compliance — that's on you, and that's the deal. If you're selling something that requires a license you don't have, that's between you and your local authorities; we just publish the listing.
A new porch-shop (adult) listing gets a quick check before it first goes public. A kid stand is link-only and goes live for its private link right away — no public listing, no waiting; guestbook notes on it post right away too, and the parent controls who has the link. Either way, we may remove or refuse any listing or note for any reason and we don't owe you an explanation, though we'll usually give one. We may close accounts that repeatedly violate these terms or list inaccurately enough that buyers can't trust the directory.
Any payment handoff (Venmo, cash, etc.) is between you and the other party. Payment is between you and the other party; we're not part of that handoff. We're not responsible for exchanges that go wrong on a third-party payment service.
Visiting a porch and buying something is an exchange between two private parties. The Front Porch makes no warranty about the food, items, or services sold, the safety or cleanliness of preparation, or the accuracy of the listing. Use common sense — these are neighbors, not vetted shops.
You keep ownership of anything you post. By posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display it on the site for as long as the listing is up. If you delete it, we stop showing it.
If you claim an unclaimed listing, the public information we already gathered for that listing (shop name, photo, links, etc.) is treated as your content from that point forward — you can edit or remove any of it from your dashboard.
We respect copyright. If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email hello@thefrontporch.store with: (1) a description of the work, (2) the URL of the listing or content, (3) your contact info, and (4) a statement that you're the rights holder or authorized to act for them. We'll review and take action on legitimate notices. Repeat infringers will have their listings removed.
Plain version: you're responsible for what you list and what you sell, so if a buyer, neighbor, regulator, or anyone else brings a claim against The Front Porch because of your listing, your products, your interactions, or your compliance with local law, you agree to defend us, cover our reasonable legal costs, and not let those claims become our problem. We get to pick our own lawyers and run our own defense.
The Front Porch is a free directory. If something does go wrong and we end up owing you money for any reason, our total liability to you across all claims is capped at one hundred US dollars ($100). This cap applies to the maximum extent allowed by law.
The Front Porch is operated from and for the United States. We don't intentionally direct services to users outside the US.
We provide the service "as is." We don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or perfectly accurate. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
You can close your account at any time. We can close your account if you violate these terms. Either way, listings come down when the account closes.
If we change anything material we'll email you and post a notice on the home page. Continued use after changes means you accept them. If you don't accept, close your account.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Utah County.
